Note: This wine was tasted blind at Franciscan Estate, Napa Valley as part of a tasting of wines from the Icon Estates portfolio (owned by Constellation): Appearance: dark purple. Nose: dark sweet fruits from a clearly warm climate (ripe blackcurrant, blackberry) with noticeable oak. Palate: large coating tannic structure, medium acidity and high alcohol (alcohol turns out to be 14.5% alc.). Good length. Conclusion: I guessed this was a Cabernet-blend and no doubt it’s not 100% Cabernet Sauvignon (AVA rules allows a minimum of 75% of the blend to be the named grape variety). A fairly big wine that is well-made. Drink 2009-2012.
